Why cyber security is the career for you

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics employment of information security analysts will grow 31 percent from 2019 to 2029. This outstanding percentage shows the importance of this relatively new field of employment and its contribution to the job market for the years to come. 

What’s cyber security?

Cyber security is an upcoming field of employment that relates to the applications of different kind of technologies in order to control and protect networks and systems or data and devices from any form of cyber-attacks. It can protect those system from any exploitation happening by malware, denial of service, phising, password attacks and other kinds of security threats.

What do you do as a cyber security expert?

You are basically employed to ensure that no one exploits or has unauthorized access to systems or data that can be crucial or significant to a company or an institution. You are basically on the front line of any cyber-attack, ready to protect the system. 

The positions you can find in cybersecurity are classified according to the experience level. Namely, at the entry level we have network engineers, and network administrators, systems administrators or security administrators. At the mid-level we have penetration testers, cyber security analysts, security technicians, IT auditors. At senior level, one can become a cyber security engineer, a Chief Information Security Officer or a cyber security manager.

In such a new field with so many opportunities for growth, you will never stop learning and exploring new skills and abilities. There are different types of cybersecurity fields to work in and not everyone has the same inclinations. From positions with less stress to more demanding positions, you can basically grow into any type of cyber security professional you wish. 

You could invest in learning new IT skills sets and attending courses, participating in seminars, or simply practicing by researching. You will never be the same person you were last year or even yesterday once you start expanding your knowledge in the field.
